Our Mission
About Us
Yale UNICEF is comprised of Yale students with a wide array of backgrounds, interests, and talents--all of whom are united by their love for children.
Yale UNICEF is a member group of the United Nations International Children's Fund Campus Initiative that aims to raise awareness about children's issues-- including poverty, development, safety, rights, health, education, and inclusion in their communities; additionally, Yale UNICEF strives to contribute to efforts made on behalf of children both locally and internationally. Yale UNICEF hopes to inspire and empower members of the Yale community by providing them with both opportunities and tools to engage in student leadership, activism, and community service work on behalf of children worldwide.
A campus branch of UNICEF
Lost in the tide of global events, the various difficulties encountered by children and their families sometimes receive limited attention. As a result, these critical issues oftentimes remain just outside the periphery of the public eye. Enter the United Nations Children's Fund, also known as UNICEF.
UNICEF works to promote the welfare of children and families worldwide and to actively alleviate the challenges they face, which include the inaccessibility to youth education, the expenses of childhood immunization, the failures of child safety regulation, the proliferation of HIV and AIDS, and the dangers of growing up in a land stricken with violence.
On campus, Yale UNICEF serves as the clearinghouse for UNICEF activity. Yale UNICEF both participates in nationwide UNICEF initiatives (including Halloween Trick-or-Treat fundraising and the Tap Water Project) as well as events customized for the Yale community (including the Healthy Habits volunteer program and an annual conference on Children's Rights).
